PHAM LINH KHOA OF UKA KEEPS ON WINNING INTERNATIONAL MATH CONTEST IJMO

Two months ago, the International Bilingual School UK Academy (UKA) and Nguyen Hoang Group (NHG) were very proud of Tran Linh Khoa – UKA young talent who won Silver medal of Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiads (SASMO). Now, Linh Khoa continues to win Silver medal of the International Junior Math Olympiad (IJMO) held in Thailand from July 27th to 31st.

On July 31st 2018, Tran Linh Khoa – student in class 6.2 of UKA Ba Ria –excellently achieved Silver medal of the international math contest IJMO. This is a math contest held by cooperation between Singapore International Math Contests Centre (SIMCC) and National Math Associate of Asian countries, in order to discover and encourage young math talents.

Overcoming thousands of contestants from many Asian countries, Vietnamese delegation of 68 students (from grade 2-11) brought in total of 61 medals, including: 7 Gold medals, 23 Silver medals, 31 Bronze medals. Particularly, grade 6 had 12 contestants (including Linh Khoa) won 1 Gold medal, 2 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals.

With Linh Khoa, this is not the first time he wins an international math contest. Previously, in May 2018, Linh Khoa achieved Silver medal of SASMO contest held in Vietnam. In additional, Linh Khoa won the First prize of “Young Scientist” contest held by NHG and attended the recording of “Smart Kids” reality show by Vietnam Television (VTV).

Not only a model for hard working with many outstanding achievements, Linh Khoa is also a Taekwondo athlete and active volunteer of many UKA extra-curriculum activities, as well as an inspirational figure for other students on learning and confidence.

“I feel very excited to participate in big contest with domestic and foreign math talents. Now, I am willing to share my experience in the contest with UKA friends to help them well prepare for upcoming contests” – Pham Linh Khoa shared his thought when receiving IJMO Silver medal.
