Leading professor, doctor in medicine appointed Hong Bang International University President

Hong Bang International University (HIU) held an online ceremony on June 1, 2021 to appoint Prof. Dr. Pham Van Linh as the new president.

That a leading professor, doctor in medicine and experienced university leader was appointed as the HIU President demonstrates its new development orientation and strategy: stronger and deeper developments in health sciences.
 

Prof.Dr. Pham Van Linh – New President of Hong Bang International University

Prof. Dr. Pham Van Linh graduated with a medical doctor, second-level specialist degree in gastroenterology from Hue University of Medicine, Bachelor’s degree in English from Hue University of Education, doctor of medicine from Vietnam Military Medical University. He was promoted to Professor in 2013.

Before becoming HIU’s President, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Linh has nearly 40 years of experience in education and used to hold senior management positions, such as: President of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Director of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, President of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Director of Can Tho University of Medicine Hospital, Chairman of the Council of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

He is the primary author and co-author of more than 150 scientific articles published in Medical and Pharmaceutical Journals, including nine articles in prestigious international journals. He also won a National Award, two Ministerial Awards, and three Provincial Awards in Science and Technology.

Prof. Dr. Pham Van Linh said at the HIU President appointment ceremony: “With nearly 40 years of experience in health sciences training, I am committed to working with the university leadership to make Hong Bang International University one of the universities in Vietnam with the best training in health sciences, providing high quality human resources in the sector.”

“Towards the goal, HIU will continue to improve its organizational structure and resources to standardize the training programs, continue to open new majors in undergraduate and graduate levels for the healthcare sector. We will continue to upgrade our facilities, continue to develop our best clinical practice and practice environment for HIU students,” he added.

The overview objective is to turn Hong Bang International University - a member of Nguyen Hoang Group into a top international university in Vietnam, a multidisciplinary university with a focus on health sciences. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Linh underlined the necessity and importance of continuing to foster internationalization and strong integration of training professions with new teaching methods, international training programs, and a dynamic and integrated learning environment for students.

Former health minister Assoc. Prof. Dr Tran Thi Trung Chien joins the ceremony. 

At the announcement ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Trung Chien, former health minister, said: “Focusing on health sciences is a very appropriate decision by NHG. The healthcare sector sees non-stop increases in the number of jobs created, this sector employs a considerable number of people. And I believe that if Hong Bang International University can maximize its potential, restructure its strategy, work out investment programs and high-quality human resource training programs, as well as proposes legal reforms, it would see very bold development steps”.
