Professor, Dr. James Riedel, Johns Hopkins University (USA) having a discussion with leaders of NHG and HSU
On October 7th, Professor, Dr. James Riedel, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), a division of Johns Hopkins University (USA) visited and worked with leaders of Nguyen Hoang Group (NHG).
Professor James Riedel has been a leading economist in Asia for more than 40 years and is currently a Senior Advisor to the US Government’s Star program supporting Vietnam in the implementation of Vietnam - America bilateral trade agreements.

At NHG, Professor James was impressed by the dedication to education of NHG. The discussion between the two sides was very interesting, focusing on the key role of education in the evolution of society, the future of Vietnamese higher education and the key to develop private education from the perspective of socioeconomics.
In particular, good teachers and excellent students are evaluated as the root of educational values. “The interaction between these two subjects, which is maintained and developed in a positive way, will promote the quality of education in a natural way.” – Professor James insisted.

In the same point of view, Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet – President of NHG shared the priorities in his business, which are: training high-quality teachers and lecturers who are interested in their career; building an educational environment respecting diversity and difference; forming an open culture, encouraging creative ideas and personal expression.
In the framework of his journey, from 8th to 11th of October, Professor James Riedel continued to visit Hoa Sen University (HSU), a member of NHG, and held a discussion workshop to share specialized information in international economics with HSU’s lecturers and students.
In the program, Professor James delivered an objective assessment on HSU’s international programs, especially giving developmental directions to enhance the academic program for the faculty of economics management.

At the same time, he also assisted HSU in establishing the Institute for Economic Development Research by introducing leading professors at Johns Hopkins University to sponsor academics for the Institute’s research activities and projects in the future.

The visit and work of Professor, Dr. James Riedel at NHG and HSU is an opportunity that NHG board of leaders has been looking for a long time to learn more about objective perspectives and innovative directions to promote the quality of higher education within the system and develop Vietnam’s private education.
