Specialized training workshops: Teaching Mathematics in English

As part of monthly specialized workshops, the K-12 Department of Nguyen Hoang Group recently organized a training session to introduce interesting Mathematics teaching methods to staff and teachers working at campuses in iSchool, UKA and IEC systems.

In addition to acquiring new knowledge, teachers were also free to exchange and discuss with experts as well as other teachers.

In the last workshop, teachers acquired useful knowledge in applying appropriate Mathematics teaching methods at Primary and Secondary levels in schools of the iSchool and UKA system. For teaching Primary school level, teachers were introduced to CPA approach including Concrete (using physical objects to solve math problems), Pictorial (using drawings to solve math problems) and Abstract (solving math problems using only numbers).

Teachers actively participated in workshop activities.

The event aimed to help teachers have an overall picture of Mathematics teaching, understand the Mathematics teaching philosophy of an advanced and prosperous country - Singapore, know how to apply i-Learn Smart Maths book and Targeting Maths book. For teaching Secondary school level, in addition to providing an overview of Mathematics teaching with Discovering Maths book, the workshop also presented challenges that we might have whilst teaching Mathematics in English; Thus, to instruct and train teachers to overcome them with practical methods.
