Letters of encouragement from the CEO to NHG staff during the Covid-19 epidemic

04/06/2020

Dearest teachers and staff of Nguyen Hoang Group,

First of all, my best wishes to all of you from the bottom of my heart. Ever since the start of this Covid-19 pandemic, I have been praying daily for you and your beloved to stay safe, calm, and in good health.

Dear all,
The Covid-19 pandemic has been raging the world over, spreading confusion, anxiety, and fear to everyone, bringing tragedy to millions of families, and upsetting the social and economic life of hundreds of peoples and nations worldwide. The fear of imminent unemployment, the strict limits of social life and the burden of earning our livelihood is now aggravated by the fear of isolation from infection or by the responsibility to take care and educate children at home as schools are closed down for such a long time. We pray for the end of the pandemic so that the world shall return to normal, our country shall be safe, our corporation shall continue to grow and everyone of us shall be untroubled and happy again.

And yet, from the perspective of a humanistic educator, the current predicament also helps us to realize many things and rediscover many values that we often forget easily. Living slowly gives us time to reflect on ourselves. An extended time of absence from school is helpful for students to realize the happiness of being able to go to school every day, and for teachers to remember and realize the lovely traits of each student. Teaching and working online help everyone to see the value of each individual's ability more accurately. Empty offices help leaders realize the greatest value of the most ordinary employee. Social distancing helps each family member realize the importance of the home, which sometimes inadvertently has been turned into no more than a motel room. Closed indoor activities help many family members realize the meaning of a shared life as well as the opportunities that have been missed to have a true home. In particular, the crisis caused by this pandemic helps us understand people’s hearts, the sincere feelings that exist right by our side which we often overlook.

Let us recall the first weeks of the pandemic, when signs of a difficult period in life began to appear, in particular when businesses had to start firing or allowing employees to temporarily go unpaid, many teachers and staff have expressed concerns for the development of NHG as a whole. Forecasting a long-lasting pandemic, very early on many teachers and staff offered to share difficulties with the Group by suggesting a voluntary reduction in salary and benefits; some even went ahead and applied this voluntary reduction before the Group's leaders had any say on the matter.

And now, to overcome the immediate difficulties and prepare for the rapid and stable development after the pandemic, even though we have voluntarily reduced our individual incomes, everyone is still engrossed in teaching and service, working even harder than before without any complaints, even though teaching and working online is not easy. How precious and admirable are those golden hearts of Nguyen Hoang people. All members of NHG’s Board of Directors, myself included, are very touched and valued such hearts of gold. I am in deep gratitude for having such wonderful people as you are.

Dear all,
According to many forecasts, the pandemic could continue to last and hinder the completion of our school year plan. Although the Ministry of Education and Training has shortened the taught curriculum for upper secondary school students and accepted online learning results, there is still a lot of difficulties. We have taken the initiative in teaching and learning online, but students cannot adapt themselves immediately to this style of learning.

In order to achieve good results, teachers must definitely work a lot harder. Spend more time in preparation for teaching, in implementing the online teaching, and in monitoring, and evaluating students’ learning outcomes. With the maxim “Serving in Love” that we all share, I do hope that all teachers and staff of NHG will continue to work hard to foster the learning of all our students, so that their development is uninterrupted, but shall be completed and completed well. As a matter of fact, some students may not be technically well-equipped to fully participate in online study; therefore, I encourage school administrators and teachers to do research and find solutions to help them, because these students are those who need our support and require to be well taken care of the most.

Dearest teachers and staff,
This Covid-19 pandemic will pass, but it is also changing the way the world will look and upsetting many of our current values. In a world proud of the immense possibilities of artificial intelligence, a world fearful of robots equipped with AI which will push people to the sidelines, the tiny Covid-19 virus has helped everyone to realize the true value of humanity. Humanistic values will regain its proper place at the top and will be cherished like never before. Hopefully, the face of the world will change for the better. All of us at NHG believe that our mission of education, which is based on the philosophy of integral humanism, will get us through this difficult time to overcome obstacles and develop better.

The only important thing that can empower us now, right at this time, is the solidarity and love that connect us with one another, with students and with parents. May each of us always keep in mind this saying "I came here not to be served by others, but to serve others" and continue to live with the spirit of "Serving in Love".

May all of you, teachers and staff of NHG and all your beloved families, be always blessed with peace and love, in the belief that we will overcome the pandemic peacefully together.
With best wishes,

GENERAL DIRECTOR
