Minister Nguyen Kim Son visits International Schools of North America
On the morning of April 25, the Board of Directors of International Schools of North America (SNA) and representatives of Nguyen Hoang Group (NHG) warmly welcomed Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son, Deputy Minister Ngo Thi Minh, and the delegates from the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) to visit SNA. The Minister highly appreciated the goals and aspirations of Nguyen Hoang Group. At the same time, it is expected that SNA will train the young generation to acquire the qualities and capabilities of global citizens in the new era.
During the meeting taking place at the International Schools of North America (SNA), the MoET delegates and representatives of the HCMC Department of Education and Training listened to the sharing from the leader of Nguyen Hoang Group about the group’s journey of more than 20 years of development. At the same time, the representative of SNA reported on the achievements that the school has secured in the past 5 years.

Mr. Mike Miller, Principal of SNA School also reported to the Minister and the Ministry's Delegation on the great changes in the school in the past 5 years. SNA has worked vigorously to become a fully accredited school through WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges. In 2022, SNA is authorized to teach the IB International Baccalaureate program, becoming one of 6 inter-level IB schools in Vietnam.
During the visit, Mr. Mike Miller took the Minister and the delegation to visit SNA's facilities, meet and talk to the school’s teachers and students, and witness learning and extracurricular activities in an environment designed with international standards. The delegation was impressed with SNA facilities and the sharing of the educational methods by the teachers and the confidence and politeness of the students.
Participating in the visit, Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the HCMC Department of Education and Training reported to the minister about the Nguyen Hoang Group: “With the enthusiasm of an education investor, Nguyen Hoang Group has created an excellent educational environment for students so that they can enjoy benefits. The Department also strongly supports the Nguyen Hoang Group on the idea of establishing Nguyen Hoang University.
In the field of general education, the Group very drastically implements international programs which are trusted by parents and students of the city. NHG's schools and universities have been investing in new programs, teaching methods, facilities, and modern equipment for students, etc., which are highly appreciated by the HCMC Department of Education and Training."
In the working session with representatives of Nguyen Hoang Group and the School Board of Directors, Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that, as the leader of the ministry, observing, visiting, and experiencing educational institutions nationwide are very important. The observations and experiences at schools help the Ministry with policies which are ensuring the national big goals, as well as mentioning the characteristics of many objects in society.
“Although we have not had the opportunity to visit all the schools in the Nguyen Hoang system, through this school tour, we want to confirm a thing: on the side of the Ministry of Education and Training, we always create the best conditions, we want both the public and private school systems to be equally developed. Especially, with more than 65,000 students and more than 50 schools in more than 20 provinces and cities, Nguyen Hoang Group is a part of general education and higher education, " said the Minister.
The Minister highly appreciated the goals and aspirations of the Nguyen Hoang Group. If NHG can complete its goals, missions, and vision, it will also contribute to completing a part of the task of the education sector. The Ministry is willing to create the best conditions for both public and private school systems. The fact shows that the private education system is making important contributions to the education of the country.
Minister Nguyen Kim Son also had words of encouragement and advice specifically for SNA: "With an international school system like SNA, we hope that the school can help foreign citizens studying here understand and experience Vietnamese culture, help Vietnamese students gain the knowledge and understanding of Vietnamese, and at the same time acquire the qualities and capabilities of global citizens in the new era.”
Minister Nguyen Kim Son also expressed his belief that the high school schools in the Nguyen Hoang system will contribute to the implementation of the New General Education Program (2018) with the Ministry of Education and Training in order to develop Vietnam's education.
