Dr. Tran Duc Canh talking at HIU and HSU
On June 22nd, Dr. Tran Duc Canh had a talk with the leaders and lecturers of Hong Bang International University (HIU) about the education in America and Vietnam; at well as shared with students of Hoa Sen University (HSU) on the topic of “Career orientation: The preparation for college, jobs and the future”.

Attending the meeting at HIU, there were representatives of Nguyen Hoang Group (NHG), including: Dr. Tran Xuan Thao, Deputy CEO, education research and development affairs; Associate Professor, Dr. Thai Ba Can, Deputy CEO, university development affairs; Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thanh Phong, Deputy CEO cum President of Hong Bang International University and the leaders, lecturers of the university.

Dr. Tran Duc Canh has nearly 45 years of studying and working in the United States and more than 10 years as an admissions advisor to Harvard University. He was appointed to the National Council for Education and Human Resource Development for the 2016-2021 term. Currently, he is an investor, advising US schools and educational institutions.

At the meeting, Dr. Tran Duc Canh discussed about education system of the US. From the specific statistics in this country, Dr. Canh pointed out the difference in education between Vietnam and other advanced countries.
“In Vietnam, nearly half of the students register pedagogy and economic-finance sectors, but the number in social and humanities, engineering sectors is significantly low. This is against the goal of becoming an industrialized country in the future. The government should rather focus on developing technology and scientific research” – said by Dr. Tran Duc Canh.

He also proposed a model of human resource development in Vietnam, changes in educational management and the role of higher education management. In particular, he emphasized the role of private universities in education development in Vietnam.
In the afternoon, Dr. Tran Duc Canh had a talk with students of Hoa Sen University (HSU) with the topic “Career orientation: The preparation for college, jobs and the future”.

According to Dr. Tran Duc Canh, career orientation is one of the most important decisions in life. Choosing a right career, which is suitable with the interests, skills and values, will increase the chances of success and have a happy life. He advised students to set specific goals. He also pointed out the steps for career planning and how to choose the right career.

In addition to career orientation, Dr. Canh also shared with students the information and tips to find a job, compose job application letter and impress the employer in an interview.
