Hoa Sen University improves leadership

The Hoa Sen University (HSU) Council announced on March 1, 2021 at the  university in Ho Chi Minh City its decision to appoint Academician, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien, HSU President, as new Council Chairman, a move to enhance HSU’s international position through his role as a prestigious scientist with many activities in scientific research and international cooperation, especially cooperation initiatives in French language promotions in Vietnam.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Ngoc Thuy – Acting President of HSU

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien is a leading expert in civil law and visiting professor at many famous international universities such as Paris 1, Paris 2, Toulouse 1 (France), Bremen (Germany), Keio (Japan), Board member of the Francophone University Agency and Chairman of the Association of French-speaking Universities, Asia-Pacific Region.. In 2017, he was admitted as an official member of the French Overseas Academy of Sciences as the first Vietnamese to receive this honor. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Notary Law from Paris Notary Public University (France, 1995),  Master’s degree of Laws from the University of Paris II (1996), and  Doctorate degree of Laws from the University of Panthéon-Assas Paris II (1997). He used to be Head of Law Faculty - Can Tho University, Deputy Dean of Economics - Laws Faculty and Vice President of University of Economics - Laws (VNU HCMC), and in 2019 became a senior lecturer of this university. In March 2020, the HSU Council appointed him  HSU President.

In parallel with the appointment of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien as the new Council Chairman, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Ngoc Thuy was also named Acting President; Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam holds the position of Vice President.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Ngoc Thuy was born in 1984, obtained  Ph.D  degree  in Management Science, majoring in Marketing in France at the age of 29. She had many years teaching at Hue University, VNU HCMC, Aix-Marseille University and University of Kedge in France. In 2018, she was one of the young doctor degree holders  promoted to Associate Professors. She accumulated 15 years of experience in management positions, including 2 years of experience as Deputy Director of the HCMC Tourism Department; 6 years as Deputy Director of International Training Institute (VNU HCMC), Head of Marketing Department and Manager of training program associated with French Universities - Economics & Administration of the University of Economics - Laws (VNU HCMC). In addition to her scientific work, she used to be the Ambassador of the French Marketing Association in Vietnam, Chairwoman of the Students Association of Hue University of Economics, and a member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Students Association.

New Vice President - Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam obtained her Ph.D in Higher Education Administration from California State University, Fullerton (USA) in 2014 and has worked for nearly 20 years at HSU, with positions as Head of Quality Assurance and Examination, Secretary of the Self-Assessment Council, etc.

Given with the appointment decisions, HSU management team includes the President of the University Council - Academician, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Thi Ngoc Thuy - Acting President; three Vice Presidents: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Huy and Dr. Phan Thi Viet Nam. The leadership is a combination between international and domestic educational experience will inherit and promote HSU’s unique identities – a modern, dynamic, effective, friendly, elite research and learning environment.
