Hong Bang International University hosts International Workshop on Rehabilitation Training
On January 9, 2023, Hong Bang International University (HIU) held the opening ceremony of the International Workshop on Strengthening Health Care and Training Rehabilitation with the theme "Implemented for sustainability.”
The program is part of a project to develop Physiotherapy training and services in Vietnam under the guidance and support of the World Physiotherapy (WP), Humanity & Inclusion (HI) Vietnam, and the United States Agency for International Development in Vietnam (USAID). HIU is the only international university in Vietnam to host and participate in this project, in improving the physiotherapy training program for 4 universities in Vietnam including the University of Medicine and Pharmacy HCMC, Hai Duong Medical Technical University, Danang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy and Hong Bang International University.
The opening ceremony was attended by international experts:
• Mr. Jonathan Kruger – Executive Director of the World Association of Physiotherapy
• Mr. Sidy Dieye – Head of Planning and Development of the World Association of Physiotherapy
• Dr. Margot Skinner – Former Vice President of the World Association of Physiotherapy, Consultant in Physiotherapy in New Zealand
• Professor Prue Morgan – Head of Department of Physiotherapy, Monash University (Australia)
• Mr. Haque Mazedul – Country Manager of HI.
In addition, there were representatives from the Taiwan Association of Physiotherapy: Professor Suh Fang Jeng - President of the Physiotherapy Association in charge of the Asia Pacific region, Professor Shin Fen Hsiao - President of the Taiwan Association of Physiotherapy, Professor Lizchiou Chen - Deputy Head of External Relations of the Taiwan Association of Physiotherapy. On the Vietnamese side, there were representatives of 4 universities participating in the training program.
An international workshop was held from January 9 to January 13 at HIU under the project of strengthening medical care and rehabilitation training. With the participation of professors, doctors, and international experts in the field of physical medicine from the UK, Australia, and Taiwan. The seminar is part of the second phase of the project with the goal of focusing on training human resources. The project was founded and led by the World Physiotherapy (WP), starting in 2019 with many online and face-to-face conferences WP has supported Vietnam in writing a bachelor's degree program in Physiotherapy in accordance with the competency standards for 04 universities in Vietnam under this project.
Training sessions of the workshop will be held this week and the Closing Ceremony will be taking place at 3 pm on January 13, 2023, at HIU.
