National Geographic Learning (USA) cooperating with NHG to bring the world into the classroom

The Humane education philosophy of Nguyen Hoang Group and the National Geographic Learning (USA) goal of "bringing the world to the classroom and the classroom to life" are in harmony so that the two sides supposed a long-term cooperation would bring tremendous changes to Vietnam's education, especially in the English language training. Thanks to that collaboration, students in and outside the Nguyen Hoang education system could learn from the experiential education and enhance understanding in all aspects of life.

On December 18th, Nguyen Hoang Group (NHG) and National Geographic Learning (NGL) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in NHG education system. The MOU was signed by Mr. Roy Lee, Managing Director/Vice President, Asia of NGL and Dr. Do Manh Cuong, Deputy CEO/Deputy chairman of Education Council, NHG.

National Geographic Learning is a collaboration between the National Geographic and Cengage, the world's leading educational publisher in general education, higher education, libraries and reference materials. Reportedly, National Geographic true stories have attracted, inspired, and enhanced students' knowledge of the world through cutting-edge discoveries, conservation efforts and fascinating stories from around the globe. Currently, NGL has three headquarters in England (Europe and the Middle East), Singapore (Asia) and Mexico (Latin America), with branch networks in more than 40 countries. Their business activities have been taking place in more than 125 countries worldwide.

After many working visits, representatives of both sides figured out the opportunity to cooperate with each other, based on a common goal: making a difference in language training by connecting learners' feelings with knowledge, thereby helping them succeed in their learning, working and personal life. Mr. Roy Lee shared: “By all our resources and love for students, the cooperation between National Geographic Learning and Nguyen Hoang Group will bring a modern, advanced and inspirational education to global citizens and future leaders".

According to the signed content, NGL will support and advise NHG on English teaching materials, specialized books for universities as well as reference books about economic, financial and medical fields, etc. Besides, the two sides will develop and publish English textbooks from preschool to higher education as well as translate specialized books, important references into Vietnamese. They will collaborate on training, organizing conferences to support teachers and the marketing tasks.

More than that, based on the existent resources, NGL will create an exclusive English curriculum for NHG system through history, geography, culture, etc. As a result, students not only improve their foreign language skills, but also explore more scientific information to learn effectively.

In addition, NGL will support teachers with additional resources for teaching to ensure that materials are used successfully. Furthermore, NGL will also advise the academic staff and library departments on using their materials to support teaching. The both sides will exchange lecturers to build the general lessons and scientific research activities. Additionally, they will also exchange ideas, information and academic documents, seek outside funding for their projects.

Principally, the two sides agreed on the direction development of cooperation, specifically: NGL will participate in English training for employees of the whole NHG system; jointly organizing language and science contests in English on a national and international scale; co-organizing many workshops and seminars on English teaching methods for learners; bringing National Geographic experts (USA) coming to Vietnam to exchange and share inspirational stories with students in and outside the NHG system.

In addition to current resources, NGL can join NHG in publishing reference materials and skills books. NGL can accompany NHG to implement online academic channels (Youtube, social networks). The two sides can co-organize community activities such as film screenings, seminars on Vietnamese science, history and geography as well as discovery activities for students near NHG schools.

Exchange programs for students and teachers in NGL's partner network have been promoted in order to create conditions for NHG approach deeply to the world civilization naturally, building an environment of multicultural education and international integration.

With a long-term cooperative relationship, NHG and NGL will together make significant changes to Vietnam's education, especially in the English training and implementation of experiential education.

Based on the scale of NGL's global operations, the two sides can carry out student exchange and scholarship programs between NHG's and NGL's partner schools. Because of making education quality a top concern of the partnership, NHG and NGL also have further consideration on developing output standards with certification at each level and norm-referenced tests to evaluate students' ability accurately and prestigiously.

Besides the student assessment tests, NGL will transfer the software to NHG in order to assess, analyze the students’ score data as well as the learning path. At the same time, they will provide interactive software to parents so as to inform the learning progress of students so that the schools and family can work together.
