NHG in collaboration with VCEC awarding the “Seeds of Hope” scholarship
On November 23rd, the Vietnam Catholic Education Commission (VCEC) in collaboration with Nguyen Hoang Group (NHG) organized the award ceremony of “Seeds of Hope” scholarship for 27 nuns from 12 different congregations across Vietnam.
In order to collaborate with the educational mission of the Church and society, NHG wishes to contribute our efforts to train professionals with the spirit of "Serving in love". Through the “Seeds of Hope” scholarship, NHG helps religious congregations to invest in higher-level training. Therefore, nuns have opportunity to improve their professional skills so that they can contribute to the society actively.

Dedicating and serving
The VCEC has launched the “Seeds of Hope” scholarship since 2018 to support Vietnamese monks annually. Father Vinh Son Nguyen Cao Dung, general secretary of VCEC shared: “NHG worked with the commission on this scholarship program because of their concern of training monks. They offer the academic programs of all 4 universities in NHG higher education system . For that reason, nuns can dedicate to contribute to society as a citizen, sowing seeds of love to produce fruits of love, collaborating with the Church in making our country more beautiful. ‘Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them’ (Psalm 126:6)”.
With this scholarship, 27 nuns will study at Hong Bang International University (HIU) in some majors, such as: nursing; rehabilitation; pharmacy; preschool education; accountancy; English language, civil engineering; architecture; film - television technology. Elite nuns receiving the scholarships come from many congregations: Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus; Congregation of the Holy Cross Lovers Hue, Thu Duc, Quy Nhon; Da Minh Bac Ninh; Da Minh Tam Hiep; Lovers Vinh Son; etc.

Marking a great advance upon the pieces of silver
“Receiving the Seeds of Hope scholarship, the nuns should take advantage to be trained comprehensively in many aspects, including: intellectual people with political, social and religious knowledge; moral people who know what is good or bad, saintly or evil. In addition, we also need to appreciate the sponsors who have given us this scholarship and keep the gratitude in our hearts. Like the 10 pieces of silver story in the Bible, we need to mark a great advance upon the pieces of silver we have received by our ability”, Bishop Peter Huynh Van Hai, the new chairman of the VCEC shared.
At the ceremony, representatives of the nuns who received the scholarship thanked and shared their study plans. They supposed that learning is not to promote individuals but to serve the poor more effectively, in the spirit of "Serving in love".
Dr. Do Manh Cuong, Vice CEO of NHG, speaking at the event.
Asociate Proffessor, Dr. Ho Thanh Phong, HIU president shared: “The most significant difference between monks and high school students who have just graduated and attended the university are the nuns have faith. Where there is faith, there is a way. I have never felt so peaceful and loving atmosphere when watching the classes with nuns. I believe that all of you wil study well, bring excitement and faith to the other students in a supportive and positive learning environment at HIU”.
Dr. Do Manh Cuong, deputy CEO of NHG, said: “We do not think we are sponsors giving what we have. Instead, NHG is collaborating and sharing to follow bigger things. In the educational mission, each person have their own situation and so does NHG. We remind each other every day: the best thanks is the collaboration”.
