Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thanh Phong takes on the role of president of Hong Bang International University
On October 26th, the leaders of HCMC People’s Committee award the decision appointing Associate Professor Ho Thanh Phong to be the president of Hong Bang International University (HIU), while also recognizing the additions and replacements of the management board of HIU in the term 2018-2023.
According to the decision no.4419/QD-HIU signed on October 08th, 2018, HCMC People’s Committee decided to recognize Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thanh Phong, the former president of the International University (HCMC National University) as the president of HIU following the term of management board.
On October 05th, HCMC People’s Committee also had a decision recognizing the member additions and replacements of the management board of HIU with 11 members in total, in which, there is Mr. Le Hoai Nam – Deputy Director of HCMC DoET, who is a representative of the government.
In addition, NHG also had a decision appointing Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thanh Phong to be deputy CEO of NHG and a member of HIU management board.
Associate Professor, Dr. Thai Ba Can, the former president of HIU from 2015 also takes the new role as deputy CEO, universities development affairs of NHG.
Before joining HIU, Associate Professor Ho Thanh Phong had 36 years of experience in university education, was awarded the Teacher of Merit (2011), Teacher of People (2018) and Labor Medal 2.
Sharing the intention and plans in the first academic year at HIU, Associate Professor, Dr. Ho Thanh Phong assures that HIU will continue its missions, while promoting the internationalization and integration in training disciplines and new training methods, starting with the programs in English only.
Moreover, HIU will focus on investments in human resources, facilities and other resources for the new missions, completing disciplines sectors to make HIU become a multi-disciplinary university, developing its advantages on current disciplines and the new ones that the society will need.
