The first annual “Voice of Nguyen Hoang” English Speaking Contest 2017 – 2018: Monumental and Meaningful

After the exciting 5-month preliminary, Voice of Nguyen Hoang – The Finale has finally taken place at Hong Bang International University (HIU) in the morning of January 25th 2018. Being held for the very first time though, the English speaking contest has attracted nearly 10.000 students from the 4 members of NHG Education system including: Saigon Academy Kindergarten System (SGA), iSchool International Integrated System (iSchool), UK Academy Bilingual System (UKA) and International Schools of North America (SNA).

As an English Speaking Contest with the widest age range in Vietnam, Voice of Nguyen Hoang has recorded very impressive numbers from the Preliminary Round: 102 entries from 20 campuses of NHG education system (SGA, iSchool, UKA and SNA) in 11 provinces. Remarkably, there are entries of very young contestants who are only 4 years old.

“I believe that the contest must be both the beginning and the transitional steps on the way students go beyond their limits to become active citizens who are willing to inspire people around with positive energy.” said Dr. Dinh Quang Nuong – Deputy CEO of NHG in his opening speech at the finale of Voice of Nguyen Hoang 2017 – 2018

At The Finale, with great encouragement from the supporters, the contestants have presented their very best in various topics on family, school, community in the context of globalization; the qualities of a global citizen, globalization in cultural and environmental aspects.

Ms. Dang Thi Thuy Linh – Deputy of Testing and Education Quality Assurance, HCMC Department of Education and Training and Dr. Do Manh Cuong – Permanent Member of Education Council, Academic Director, NHG to award Golden Medals to the “champions” of Voice of Nguyen Hoang 2017 - 2018: Vu Song Thu from SGA Bui Thi Xuan, Ton Nu Cam Ngoc from SNA, Diep Minh Nhi from iSchool Long Xuyen

Ms. Doan Vu Anh Duong, representative of iStudent – Institute for International Relations and Study Aboard to reward “iStudent Inspire Award” – a study trip to Singapore and Malaysia worth 2,500 USD to Le Vu Quang Huy from UKA Ba Ria

Dr. Dinh Quang Nuong – Deputy CEO of NHG emphasized during his speech at the contest: “The biggest success of the contest is that students know how to think logically about a certain issue, arrange ideas into a complete speech, confidently raise their own voices in order to pass their passion and interest to listeners. I believe that the contest must be both the beginning and the transitional steps on the way students go beyond their limits to become active citizens who are willing to inspire people around with positive energy.”

The contest has ended very successfully and meaningfully with a speech given by Dr. Do Manh Cuong – Permanent Member of Education Council, Academic Director of NHG, also head of the organizing committee. He said: “In the age of globalization, English is the prerequisite for students to confidently integrate internationally, seize opportunities and establish a solid future. Therefore, building an international standard English training program has always been one of the top priorities of Nguyen Hoang Group. I hope that not only the contestants but also all of the students from NHG education system will find the missions of their lives, constantly learn and practise to reach out to more successes, make positive influences and create good values for the society, as what they have expressed through the contest today.”
