"NHG's Young Scientist 2018" Final Round: A day of creativity
In the morning of April 7th, the final round of NHG Young Scientists 2018 has taken place in a very exciting atmosphere at the Gymnasium, School of North America, Saigon South, HCMC.
After 6 months launching, there were 23 projects selected from various fields like environmental science, new energy and material…; and of many categories such as creative products, environmental protection, informatics software, school supplies, leisure toys…
In the preliminary round, the judges selected 11 excellent projects which express contestants’ efforts and determination to overcome challenges to get to the final round of NHG Young Scientists 2018.
The first prize went to “The wifi switch – handicapped remote control” of the 2 contestants Vo Le Mai Anh and Le Nguyen from class 9/3 iSchool Nha Trang. The second prize was won by Doan Trang, Ngoc Quy and Trung Viet from SNA with “The laser anti-theft device”. The third prizes belonged to iSchool Quy Nhon with “Making activated charcoal with coconut shells to process organic waste in wastewater samples from Binh Dinh” project, UKA Ba Ria with “Applying Arduino board to design home electrical equipment control circuit” and iSchool Long An with “Smart school model”. Other projects from iSchool Quy Nhơn, iSchool Ninh Thuan and iSchool Rach Gia, respectively “Step-charging, generator system and lighting application for walking streets in Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh”, “The solar water purifier” and the two “Identifying Borax in food by turmeric” and “CNC mini cutting machine”, won the Consolation Prizes.
At the final round, Dr.Dinh Quang Nuong – Deputy CEO of NHG said: “The competition this year has recorded various community-based projects that promote humanity and express the creative power of NHG students. We need to build up a system in which students of different school brands are able to share their projects, learn from each other and experience, and unceasingly develop the spirit of research as well as their scientific research projects.”
The NHG's Young Scientist Contest is an annual event organized by NHG to help students cultivate and apply knowledge they have learned in real life and to create products for community, as well as to promote the research spirit for all students in the Group's education system.
